Bharat Vikas Parishad - A Missionary Organisation
Established in 1963, Bharat Vikas Parishad is a service-cum-sanskar oriented, non-political, socio-cultural voluntary organisation. It is dedicated to the development and growth of our country in all fields of human endeavour – cultural, social, academic, moral, national and spiritual – by promoting a sense of patriotism, national unity and integrity.
On the birth centenary of Swami Vivekanand i.e. on 12th January, 1963, the Citizens Council set up by leading industrialists and social reformers like late Lala Hans Raj and Dr. Suraj Prakash, initially to mobilise citizens efforts to fight the Chinese attack, was renamed as Bharat Vikas Parishad. It is thus motivated and guided by the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekanand.
Bharat Vikas Parishad was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 on the 10th July, 1963
Our Vision
Our Vision is development and growth of Bharat, in all fields of human endeavour – cultural, social, academic, moral, national and spiritual culminating in Swasth-Samarth-Sanskarit Bharat i.e. physically, economically and morally strong India.
Our Mission
Our Mission is to organise the elite, intellectuals and the well-to-do citizens and to motivate them to serve our poor, disabled, illiterate and ignorant brethren not as an act of charity but in the true spirit of our cultural tradition of service as duty and also to transmit our cultural values to the younger generation.
Our Sutras
The action plan for implementation of Parishad’s policies and programmes is executed through the following sutras (maxims):
1. Sampark (Fellowship)
Identify and establish personal contacts with such persons who will enroll themselves as members to accept responsibility and render effective assistance in Parishad’s activities.
2. Sahyog (Cooperation)
Enlist active co-operation and support of influential persons and give them responsibility.
3. Sanskar (Moral Orientation)
Educate and orient members and well-wishers by inculcating in them a positive awareness of the noblest aspects and the spiritual values of our heritage.
4. Sewa (Service)
The logical culmination of efforts put in during the foregoing stages is service – selfless and dedicated service – not as an act of charity, condescension or favour conferred on the recipient, but in the true spirit of our cultural tradition treating service as worship.
5. Samarpan (Commitment)
All these maxims are indispensable for proper grooming of our citizens and their family members towards the service of our motherland.
“We are Unique”
Aim of most NGOs is socialization where public service is merely a cosmetic affair which has no deep impact on society. However, fellowship in the Parishad is only a means to an end and not the end. Activities of Bharat Vikas Parishad are comprehensive and aim at multifaceted development of the society combining equally both sanskar and sewa aspects with capacity building of those served.
Bharat Vikas Parishad is a service-cum-sanskar oriented non-political socio-cultural family-based voluntary organisation, where both husband and wife join as members to serve the society.
The members of the Parishad meet their own expenses while participating in its activities and also contribute towards administrative expenses of the organisation. Funds collected for projects and programmes are kept separately and are spent 100 per cent exclusively for the designated purposes.
Parishad lays emphasis on developing the competence of the beneficiaries through their involvement so that they are no longer dependent on charity and lead a dignified and honourable life.
भारत विकास परिषद् : एक अद्वितीय संगठन – एक विशिष्ट पहचान
स्वतंत्रता के पश्चात् देश में अनेक सामाजिक, सेवाभावी एवं सांस्कृतिक संगठनों का उद्भव एवं विकास हुआ है। इन संगठनों में जिस संगठन ने भारतीय दर्शन एवं मूल्यों को केन्द्र बिन्दु मानकर सेवा और संस्कारों के विविध प्रकल्पों को हाथ में लेकर देश के सम्पूर्ण एवं सर्वांगीण विकास का संकल्प लिया है, जिसकी आस्था मातृभूमि के प्रति समर्पण और भारतीय जीवन मूल्यों पर आधारित है, जिसने राष्ट्रीय दृष्टिकोणों को प्रखर बनाने में अपनी विशिष्ट भूमिका का निर्वहन किया है, भारतीय जनमानस में भारतीय संस्कारों एवं आदर्शों के ज्ञान एवं अनुपालन को जन-आन्दोलन का सृजन किया है और समाज के गरीब एवं विपदाग्रस्त व्यक्तियों की सेवा के लिए उदार भावनाओं को सुदृढ़ किया है, उस संगठन का नाम है – ‘भारत विकास परिषद्’
भारत विकास परिषद् समाज में विभिन्न व्यवसायों व कार्यों में लगे श्रेष्ठतम् लोगों का एक राष्ट्रीय, अराजनैतिक, निःस्वार्थ, समाजसेवी एवं सांस्कृतिक संगठन है। इस संस्था की स्थापना का उद्देश्य भारतीय समाज का सर्वांगीण विकास करना है। इस विकास में सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक, नैतिक, राष्ट्रीय एवं आध्यात्मिक सभी प्रकार का विकास समाहित है। इस हेतु परिषद् सम्पन्न वर्ग को समाज के कार्य के लिए प्रेरित कर सेवा एवं संस्कार द्वारा निर्धन लोगों के उत्थान के कार्य में लगा रहा है। यह एक संस्था भी है और एक आन्दोलन भी।
स्वामी विवेकानन्द जी के विचारों से प्रेरणा लेकर, उनके जन्म शताब्दी वर्ष 1963 में, समाज के विचारशील, समर्पित एवं उत्साही व्यक्तियों ने भारत विकास परिषद् की स्थापना की। दिल्ली के भूतपूर्व महापौर लाला हंस राज एवं डॉ. सूरज प्रकाश ने इसकी नींव रखी। पूर्व में महादेवी वर्मा, डॉ. लक्ष्मीमल्ल सिंघवी जैसे महत्वपूर्ण व्यक्तित्व परिषद् से जुड़े रहे हैं तथा वर्तमान में स्वामी सत्यमित्रानन्द गिरि जी, पूर्व केन्द्रीय मंत्री जगमोहन जी, बिहार के पूर्व राज्यपाल न्यायमूर्ति (डॉ.) एम. रामा जायस, न्यायमूर्ति एस. पर्वता राव, न्यायमूर्ति डी.आर. धानुका आदि अनेक गणमान्य व्यक्ति परिषद् से जुड़े हुए हैं। डॉ. लक्ष्मीमल्ल सिंघवी, न्यायमूर्ति हंसराज खन्ना एवं श्री गोविन्द नारायण आई.सी.एस. जैसी विख्यात विभूतियाँ परिषद् की संरक्षक रह चुकी हैं।
1963 में दिल्ली से प्रारंभ हुई एक शाखा से अब समस्त देश में इसकी लगभग 1430 शाखाएँ हैं। इसके 68,000 परिवार अर्थात् एक लाख छतीस हजार सदस्य (परिषद् में पति पत्नी समान रूप से भागीदार हैं), निःस्वार्थ भाव से समाजिक एवं सेवा कार्यों में जुटे हैं। कार्य की दृष्टि से देश को 7 रीजन व 71 प्रान्तों में बांटा गया है। अब कोई भी प्रान्त परिषद् की शाखाओं से अछूता नहीं है।
हमारा दृष्टिकोण : हमारा दृष्टिकोण है मानव-जीवन के हर पहलू यथा…. सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक, नैतिक, राष्ट्रीय एवं आध्यात्मिक क्षेत्रों में देश का विकास व संबर्धन जिससे अन्ततोगत्वा बने : स्वस्थ – समर्थ – संस्कारित भारत
हमारा उद्देश्य : हमारा उद्देश्य है समाज के उच्च वर्ग, बुद्धिजीवियों व सुविधासम्पन्न लोगों में अपने देश के गरीब, असमर्थ, अशिक्षित व अज्ञानी लोगों के प्रति सेवा-भाव जागृत करना। लेकिन ये सेवा दया भाव के रूप में नहीं बल्कि अपनी देश की संस्कृति में बसी सेवा के कत्र्तव्य के रूप में।
हमारे सूत्र : परिषद् के उद्देश्यों व कार्यक्रमों को मूर्त रूप देने के लिए हम अपने निम्नलिखित सूत्रों का अनुसरण करते हैं:
- सम्पर्क : हम उन व्यक्तियों को चिन्हित करते हैं, और उनसे व्यक्तिगत सम्पर्क स्थापित करते हैं जो कि परिषद् के सदस्य के रूप में परिषद् की गतिविधियों में जिम्मेदारीपूर्वक सहायता प्रदान करने को तैयार हो सकते हैं।
- सहयोग : समाज के प्रभावशाली लोगों का सक्रिय सहयोग प्राप्त करते हैं और फिर उन लोगों को जिम्मेदारियाँ सौंपते हैं तथा उनके सहयोग से परिषद् के उद्देश्यों के अनुरूप कार्य करते हैं।
- संस्कार : अपने देश की धरोहरों के सर्वश्रेष्ठ पहलुओं व आध्यात्मिक मूल्यों के प्रति अपने सदस्यों को शिक्षित व प्रेरित करते हैं।
- सेवा : परिषद् की समस्त गतिविधियों का बिन्दु ‘सेवा’ है। निःस्वार्थ व समर्पित सेवा और यह सेवा किसी दया या कमजोर के प्रति हीनभाव से प्राप्तकर्ता को नहीं दी जाती है, बल्कि हमारी संस्कृति के अनुरूप सच्ची भावना से पूजा भाव के साथ प्रदान की जाती है। ‘नर सेवा नारायण सेवा’ का भाव रहता है।
- समर्पण : ऊपर वर्णित समस्त सूत्रों के अनुरूप परिषद् परिवार के सदस्यों को समाजोन्मुखी, अहंकार रहित पूर्ण समर्पित भाव जागृत करने का प्रयास रहता है व उचित समर्पित मनोस्थिति के साथ मातृभूमि की सेवा के लिए तैयार करने हेतु समर्पण अपरिहार्य है
In the world take always the position of the giver. Give everything and look for no return. Give love, give help, give service, give any little thing you can, but keep out barter. Make no conditions and none will be imposed. Let us give out of our own bounty, just as God gives to us.
Swami Vivekanand
