Pune: Mercedes-Benz India has joined forces with Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) to set up an oxygen plant at Seth Tarachand Hospital in Pune. This initiative will support at least 200 beds at the Pune based hospital. With a capacity of 280 litres per minute, the oxygen plant will also support the future growth of the hospital and distribute extra oxygen to neighbouring hospitals via cylinders.

Both Mercedes-Benz India and BVP will split the cost of the oxygen plant equally. The plant was officially passed over to the hospital today in the presence of the Honorable Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director and CEO Martin Schwenk.

This collaboration between Mercedes-Benz India and BVP comes at a crucial time when India is still racking up over 30,000 COVID-19 cases per day and a third wave just around the bend.

Martin Schwenk said, “It remains our endeavour to support the local community and authorities wherever possible and stand together with them during challenging times. The oxygen plant that we are jointly setting up in Pune in will not only support the current requirements of Seth Tarachand Hospital but also help them for any future expansion. This is a long-term project, which will support the local community even after the pandemic.”
