Dimapur: Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) Nagaland celebrated the 72nd Republic Day at Dimapur Dayanand Vidyaniketan premises on January 26 with the hoisting of the national flag by Bishnu Bhattacharjee, Regional Secretary, North East BVP, and singing of the national anthem.
According to a press release from BVP Dimapur Branch, a cultural programme was organised where Dr Wilvo Zeliang graced the occasion as chief guest. Particpants at the event also heard speeches from Shantosh Kr Shastri, Coordinator DVN (NE), Binita Jigdung, Debika Roy, Anita Dutta, Arvind Ji Arya and Rasudesh Bhagat from Bharat Vikas Parishad and senior community leaders from Dimapur, the release stated. Freedom fighters and national leaders were remembered by speakers and guests in their speeches, it added.
Other highlights of the programme included patriotic songs and dances by students and youth from Dimapu, along with a short programme commemorating the 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, also known as Parakram Divas on the same day. As per the release, Dr Ramashankar Siromoni, General Secretary BVP declared that a whole day programme on ‘Girl Child and Women Empowerment’ would be organised on February 7 at DVN Dimapur.
