Be a partner in development of the Nation

Bharat Vikas Parishad is striving for the development of the Nation. You can also participate in this effort  by (a) becoming a member of Bharat Vikas Parishad, (b) enrolling yourself as a “Vikas Ratna” or “Vikas Mitra”  and (c)  donating for various sewa &  sanskar projects.

Donations to Bharat Vikas Parishad are eligible for income tax exemption under section 80-G of Income Tax Act. Donations may kindly be sent by cheque / demand draft in favour of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Bharat Vikas Bhawan, BD Block, Behind Power House, Pitampura, Delhi-110034.




29. Indian Educational Institutions




1. Oldest Universities

(i) Takshshila- 5th Century BC,
Destructed in 5th Century AD. Associated with large number of celebrities including Chanakya Chander Gupta Maurya and Charak.

(ii) Nalanda- 5th Century AD
Destructed by General Bakhtiar Khilji of Qutubuddin Ebak in 1037 AD. Founded by King Kumar Gupta in Magadh (Bihar).

(iii) Vikram Shila- 8th Century AD
Founded by a monk Kampal under the patronage of King Dharampal.

(iv) Odantapuri- 7th Century AD
Founded by King Gopal at Magadh 6 miles away from Nalanda.

(v) Senpura- 9th Century AD.
Founded by King Devpal at Senpura, now in Bangladesh.

(vi) Jagahala- 12th Centruy AD
Founded by King Ram Pal in West Bengal.

(vii) Vallabhi- 5th Century
Founded by Maitraka Kings in Gujrat. All these universities were fully developed where not only Indians from different parts of the country but also from foreign countries used to come for studies.

2. Earliest universities established in British Period

(i) Calcutta, Bombay and Madras Universities started in 1857.
